When will applications be accepted for 2018 William D. Squires Scholarship?
Applications will be accepted after February 15th. The postmark deadline is Thursday, April 5th.

These are listed on the page for seniors. The applicants that meet the eligibility requirements move on to the selection committee in May. Please read all the directions to ensure that your application moves forward.

How do I get an application for The William D. Squires Scholarship?
The application is available on the page for seniors. It is 8 pages. You will be asked to complete and submit pages 5-8 of the application, an essay, and submit 2 letters of recommendation, your transcripts, class schedule and your finalized Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA.
How many scholarships has the Foundation awarded?
With the addition of our 15 newest recipients from the Class of 2017, 264 students have received this scholarship since 2000. The Foundation has awarded over three million dollars!
Will the scholarship program be the same every year?
The exact program details will be announced each year when this website is updated in early January.
Why does The Foundation only give scholarships to students from Ohio?
The Foundation is actually incorporated in Arizona because William was a resident of Arizona when the Foundation began. It was William’s wish to give financial assistance only to students from his home state of Ohio. William and all of the members of the Board of Directors were born in Ohio and graduated from Ohio High Schools.
After the overwhelming response by applicants, we do not anticipate expanding our geographic area. There is obviously a great need for this type of scholarship, as shown by the number of applicants.
How many applications does the Foundation receive annually?
Over 600 students apply annually for The William D. Squires Scholarship.
What is a SAR?
You will receive the SAR or Student Aid Report after you apply for your FAFSA. We require a complete and finalized SAR. All information will be kept confidential and eventually shredded. If you have not filed your FAFSA, please refer to their website:
